Board of Education v. Rowley
First special education Supreme Court case that came about because the school refused to provide deaf student Rowley with a sign language interpreter. Rowley lost the case, however; it set the standard for what is a Free Appropriate Public Education.This case have supported the needs of students with disabilities by giving them access to public school and the same opportunity (basic floor of opportunity) as students without disabilities.

Honig v. Doe
The Honig decision is a landmark case in in which the U.S. Supreme Court dealt with the issue of expelling a disabled child based on actions arising out of that child's disability, In Honig, the Court ruled that a school district may not unilaterally exclude or expel a disabled child from the classroom setting for dangerous or disruptive conduct growing out of their disabilities. Argued on 11/9/87, a final decision 01/20/88. The court came to the a decision with a 6-2, Yes and Yes. -
Timothy W. v. Rochester, New Hampshire, School District
This case was argued on 2/7/89 and decided 5/24/89.From Timothy's case the principle of "zero reject" was established.Applicable Law established The Education of All Handicapped Children Act (EAHCA).This case have supported the needs of students with disabilities by allowing ALL students no matter their disability the right to an FREE education.
