Erikson Timeline

  • Identity Versus Confusion

Jackson (Age 16) has tried many different areas of interest but observed and adopted the identity of an electrician after exploring the area of electrical and watching his father before him. Focusing on how they balance work and life and learning after high school.
The crisis is between forming an identity based on experiences, events, and values (Identity) or being confused about your place in society and life as a whole leading to despair later in life (Role Confusion)
  • Intimacy Versus Isolation

Jackson (Age 22) gets married to Camila (Age 23) blending each other's identities and making their relationship meaningful and full of love.
The crisis is between fostering long-lasting and emotionally deep relationships (Intimacy) or being completely closed off from others and not pursuing any relationships (Isolation).
  • Generativity Versus Stagnation

Jackson (Age 58) and his wife Camila (Age 59) had their first kid just leave home and adopted a10 year old that they love and invest in. Helping not only their child find purpose in life but now their adopted child find a home and a place to feel safe.
The crisis is between giving back to society and helping others instead of yourself such as parenthood (Generativity) or Looking back at life and seeing no growth and not investing in anyone but yourself (Stagnation)
  • Integrity Versus Despair

Jackson (Age 72) Died of Lung Cancer surrounded by his wife and 2 children and reflecting on his life he had no regrets. He had worked hard as an electrician and provided for his family and spent a lot of time with them.
The crisis is between satisfaction with one's life regardless of setbacks and substantial regret (Ego Integrity) or wanting to "Redo" things in your life. Or another way this can be stated is "The ends don't justify the means" (Despair).
