Peter's mom wraps peter in a warm blanket and cradles him in her arms, and sings to him until he falls asleep. In Erikson's first stage, trust versus mistrust, the crisis is between feeling protected and cared for from surrounding discomforts, or feeling left alone and unprotected from any surrounding discomforts. Because of the care from his mother, Peter will have more confidence that his mom will be there in times of discomfort. -
Peter Breaks His Mom's Vass
Peter is playing and breaks his mom's vass. His mom spanks him in the but as a result, and tells him not play near a certain area anymore. In Erikson's third stage, initiative versus guilt, the crisis is between Peter having a sense the freedom to explore and play, or avoiding certain areas of the house to avoid getting in trouble.
