The Missouri Compromise delayed a slavery debate that was beginning to rise up. In 1820 tensions began to rise between pro-slavery and anti-slavery factions within the U.S. Congress and across the country. -

Monroe told the Europeans that the United States wouldn't accept further colonization. The significance is getting Europe to agree to not interfere with the colonies. -

The war started because of the U.S taking over Texas the war was from April 1846 until February 1848. -

It was four different bills that were passed by congress into law that helped solve the issues with slavery tensions between the North and the South about what states should be free when it comes to territories gained in the Mexican American War. -

The law made citizens report and capture runaway slaves. -
Gadsden Purchase
This was an agreement between the United States and Mexico where the U.S payed Mexico 10 million dollars for a piece of land that is now part of Arizona and New Mexico. This helps with building the Southern part of the transcontinental rail road. -
Bleeding Kansas
The Kansas-Nebraksa Act overturned the Missouri Compromise instead it used popular sovereignty which means that each state will determine whether it will be a free state or a slave state. -
Harper's Ferry
It was the target of a strike by the U.S military. The plain was to establish a location for free slaves in the mountain ranges of Maryland and Virginia. -
Dred Scott Decision
This case was about someone who tried to sue for his freedom because he was living in a Northern state. The court did not side with him and said that he could never be a citizen of the United States. -

South Carolina seceded with the Declaration of the Immediate Causes Which Induce and Justify the Secession. -

The proclamation declared "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be free." -

The Battle of Gettysburg was a battle by Union and Confederate forces during the American Civil War. -
Gettysburg Address
It was a speech dedicated by Abraham Lincoln to the Union solders killed at the Battle of Gettysburg. -
13th Amendment
The 13th amendment abolished slavery in the United States. -
14th Amendment
It granted citizenship to “all persons born or naturalized in the United States.” -
15th Amendment
The 15th amendment granted African American men the right to vote. -

Its where they discovered gold and it made a lot of people travel to get some gold.
