  • 4004 BCE

    Approximate Year the World Was Created

    It is currently not possible to tell exactly when the world was created, but modern scholars estimate that the world was created in about the year 4004 BC, give or take a few years. This knowledge was obtained using the dates given in the King James Bible (KJV).
  • 2348 BCE

    Noah's Flood

    The approximate year God flooded the Earth as described in the Bible. Again, this is approximate.
  • 2242 BCE

    Tower of Babbel

    Another approximate date. Man was scattered across the Earth by God. Because the ice age was still happening, man was able to come to North America by land bridge; this, or God directly moved humans to the Americas after Babbel.

    William of Normandy conquers England

    Massive impact on English history. Normans conquered England. It brought England's ties away from Scandinavia and toward Normandy, France, and the rest of continental Europe. Norman influence is still in England today.

    Mongol Empire created

    The Mongols would go on to do many important things, such as rebuild the Silk Road that would bring guns and the Black Death to Europe for the first time. European knowledge of Eastern Asia greatly improved due to this connection. The Mongol Empire was the largest contiguous empire ever.

    Hundred Years' War

    Began when Edward III of England invaded France, claiming rights to the French throne. Would begin the rivalry between France and England that lasted until the rise of Germany in the 1870s that would begin to align French and British interests. Killed half of France's population. Had many other profound effects.

    Black Death in Europe

    Killed up to a third of Europe's population, killing as much as 80% of people in some large areas. Towns and villages disappeared completely. Eventually led to the decline of feudalism, with the help of other factors. Many other profound effects.

    Seven Years' War/French and Indian War

    Seven Years' War, so named because it lasted nine years. Led to enormous territorial gains for Britain, but also led to a financial problem for Britain that they would fail to solve by taxing the Americans and starting the Revolutionary War.

    Napoleonic Wars

    During this time, France invaded a whole lot of Europe, ended the Holy Roman Empire, and had most of Europe under its grasp or influence, save for the British. However, Napoleon would finally be defeated in the 6th coalition against France (the first 5 resulted in victory for Napoleon.) The seventh would happen after Napoleon escaped exile for the first and last time and took power in France. He lost that and was exiled, where he would die.

    Immediate spark to World War 1. Austria declares war on Serbia same day.

    Russian Revolution/Russian Civil War

    February Revolution in 1917 established a dual government between Communists and the former government of Russia. This government lasted all of 8 months before its decision to stay in World War 1 led to the rise of the Bolsheviks and a revolt against the Provisional Government that led to an incredibly brutal civil war between the White and Red governments between late 1917 and 1923. This led to the establishment of the USSR.

  • Treaty of Versailles Signed

    Determined Germany's fate. Unconditional surrender for Germany, their military limited, land lost, no more colonies, heavy reparations, etc. Signed exactly five years after the Archduke was assassinated and war began.

  • Stalin Rules USSR

    In the USSR's early years, the country was not much of a power, but was much more free and merciful with Lenin in charge. Stalin took power after Lenin though, and he would start the Stalinist Purges that killed millions.

  • Hitler becomes Dictator of Germany

    Hitler had became chancellor in 1933 and the next year, Hitler would have absolute control of the country. Between 1933 and 1936, Hitler focused on building an extremely loyal military, governmental reforms, and establishing a completely totalitarian state in Germany.

    Starts up Second Sino-Japanese War. Continues for 5 years before merging into World War 2. Massive loss of lives for China. War fought entirely on Chinese soil.

    Invasion of Poland

    German and Soviet forces split Poland. On October 6th, the partition of Poland was fully agreed upon, ending the invasion of Poland.

  • D-Day invasion begins

    D-day's success basically guaranteed the defeat of Nazi Germany. Marked the beginning of a bloody campaign to liberate Western europe and West Germany.

  • Germany Surrenders to Western allies

    Germany surrendered, what little remained of its territory in shambles. Only isolated pockets in Central Germany, Austria, and all of Norway/Denmark, remained. Germany surrendered to the Soviets the next day.

  • Japan surrenders

    This is the day Hirohito ordered the surrender of all Japanese forces. On September 2, with an Allied occupied Japan, the surrender was formalized.

  • Russian flag raised over Kremlin

    Soviet flag on the Kremlin replaced with the Russian Tricolor. Symbolic end of the USSR. States had been breaking away for a year at this point. Kazakhstan would be the last to leave USSR, and a few days later, it would be voted out of existence, having no more land to claim as its own.

    Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
