Queen Elizabeth started the East India Company to develop trade between Britain n India. English was the language in the trademarket but some words didn't mean the same as Indian english. A special dictionary called Hobson Jobson was made to explain the meaning of these words. English was the ruleing language in Calcutta, it gave people cultural freedom. Two new languages: Hinglish & Binglish, Mix w Hindi and Bengali, good in advertising. Some streets have canged back to bengali. -

The Caribbean and the triangle trade
The triangle trade. England could take cheap materials from America and sell them expensively. Manufactured goods from England sailed goods to west Africa and the goods got exchanged with African slaves. The slaves got bought by plantations and colonial owners in North America and the Caribbean.Ships got filled with tobacco suga cotton. UK became powerfu. CREOLE was formed by settlers to simplify English btwen sailors & slaves. Slaves mixed engli w native language.Barbados close, Jamaica not so. -
The First Fleet
The fleet of 11 ships held 750 English people to transfer criminals from England to Australia, arriving in nowadays Sydney. Got sent to Australia and they couldn't return. Settlers didn't know how to plant, take care of animals, farm the land which led to food problems so people starved to death. Some of the words from England that the settlers carried on are still used today and have become to be a word in their vocabulary:
Billy = Pot of boiling water and Tucker = Food.
