Beads
This is when I had decided that just because I didn't have pockets to stick beads up my ear so they wouldn't get lost. I then couldn't hear for a few weeks due to the beads blocking most of my hearing. This lead to many attempts on the parts of my parents to try to remove the 6 beads. They were able to get 4/6 beads out but not the ones that were deep inside my ear. We then had to go to the emergency room to have the beads surgically removed. After the surgery they allowed me to see them. -
Breaking my collar bone
When I was 11 me, my brother Alonzo, and my neighbor Dylan where playing football in his backyard. There was one rule and it was we couldn't tackle. We were playing just fine but out of nowhere my brother tackles me to the ground. When I hit the ground I heard a breaking noise. Me and my brother than ran back home were he then lied to my mom saying he thought I was in pain cause i got my period. When my mom came home and saw my collar bone look awfully wrong we then went to the hospital. -
The first time I went to see a therapist
My relationship with my bio dad was never the best. He was emotionally abusive towards me in my childhood. When he was with my mother he was the same way to the point when they broke up he would harass her any time he picked me up. He would try to convince me to change who I was. This went on for years keeping me from seeing my grandmother and aunts. When he got married I was criticized even more. I finally went to a therapist to talk about these issues and it was so liberating to have someone. -
How I found out I was lactose intolerant
Since I was little, always after drinking milk I felt sick after and would throw up after. I would tell my mom but she wouldn't believe me. When I started waking up every morning with stomach pain my mom took me to the doctor and they said the would have to do a endoscopy. What they found out is that I had a stomach ulcer and that's what caused the pain. The doctor said it was caused from a intolerance to food and that's when I looked at my mom and said I told you so. My dream had come true. -
When I had my tonsils removed
Since I was little I've always had enlarged tonsils. This made it very hard to breathe whenever I would get small cold or worse when I would get very sick. Anytime I would feel sick and had to go to the nurse they would ask me how I could still breathe because of how they would block my airway. When we went to get the surgery done I was very scared even though there was no risk. The week after the surgery was very painful and I was always hungry for the food I couldn't have. I am happier now. -
My Quinceñera
In the hispanic community a quinceñera is used for presenting a now considered woman to the people. My quinceñera was a sort of last minute plan by that I mean I didn't plan a year ahead I planned only a few months ahead of time. My father couldn't be there to dance with me ,a crucial part, because he had to go back to Ecuador so he could become a resident of the U.S. I was there with all my family and friends. The best part was watching some family drama unfold at the party due to a lot drinks. -
Meeting my best friend
The first time I met my best friend, Dora DeVenuti, was in gym class freshman year. We had a mutual friend who had introduced us and for some reason I knew that she was probably as weird as I was. We then started talking and texting all the time. We then became inseparable as we still are to this day. We creeped out many teachers because of how close we were. Many teachers for some reason would confuse us for each other or thought we were related somehow. I'm grateful everyday to have her. -
Going to Ecuador
My father is from Ecuador and has always wanted me to visit there to show me where he is from. I've never been on a plane before and this was my first time. When I got there I was greeted by my oldest brother and my uncles. I spent time in many beautiful places saw many tourist attractions and spent time with my family. My favorite part was carnaval a celebration of life. The food was amazing and so was seeing all my family again as I haven't seen them in a very long time and missed them dearly. -
Getting my first dog
I've had pets before but having one of your very own is a very different feeling. I foster dogs and cats for many rescue groups. It takes a lot of heart to be able to raise and care for these animals and watch them leave for better lives. I was taking care of this 7 year old dog named Darla a Pug Chihuahua mix. She had tufts of fur missing and was very shy but loving. I fell in love with her immediately because of her charm and loving nature. It was $400 dollars to adopt her but it was worth it. -
The death of my dog Jaxxon
We adopted Jaxxon a year ago as a companion for our dog Raymi. they clicked instantly and became inseparable. He was 5 years old when we got him and he was the sweetest pitbull. When we adopted him we didn't know of the heart, digestive, and weight problems he had. He was on heart medicine for a long time. Then we got a phone call on mother's day that he had lymphoma. He was in the final stages and wouldn't live much longer. He passed away on his birthday. He will be missed very much.
