    LinkAdolf Hitlers parents were Alois Schickelgruber Hitler and Klara Poelzl. Hitler was a very disconnteted, moody, and lazy child growing up. He dropped out of high school, with an aspiring dream of becoming a painter. But his dreams were shattered when he was rejected from the Viennese Academy of Fine Arts. But as we know, he later took over Germany, by becoming chancellor on January 30th, 1933.
  • Maximilian Kolbe (Hailey)

    Maximilaian was born in Poland and became a priest. He was taken to a concentration camp during the HOlocaust and voluteered to die to save a stranger. This made him a martyr.
    He was canonized on October 10th 1982 by Pope John Paul II. He is refered to the Patron Saint of Our Difficult Century.

    Link to websiteWorld War 1 had a devastating affect on Germany. Throughout the war the people of Germany believed that they were winning, from lack of knowledge from the government, then, Germany started to cease. Germany did not import foods because there was a blockade of the British Navy. In 1918, there was a major attack on Germany, and they could not fight back. Slowly, In the end Germany lost 2 million men, were in an economic depression and completer disrespect for there government.

    sourceSOURCE LINKMein Kampf is a book published in July of 1925 and written by Rudolf Hess. Rudolph wrote what Adolf Hitler dictated to him in ther prison cell. It is called Mein Kampf which translated to My Struggle, or My Battle. In the book he tells about how the Jews are inferior and the Germans and Aryans are the superior races. He refers to the Jews as parasites and liars. After Hitler became chancellor of Germany the book began to sell millions of copies.

    LinkOn October 29, 1929, also known as Black Tuesday, the Wall Street stock market collapsed. Germany was hit very hard by this, as they were dependant on foregin trade and money loans from America. Banks started to fail and workers were laid off as production levels fell. The middle class was now dragged into poverty, and misery, making them strive for a solution. This is when Hitler knew he had an opputunity of power, when Germany was at their weakest point.

    Website Hitler became chancellor through a "shadowy backroom deal." Hitler tried to run for president to get publicity. Although he lost, he got what he wanted- to be known. Paul Von Hindenburg, who won against Hitler, had to appoint him chancellor, because that is what the people wanted. Even though Paul Von Hindenburg thought very lowly of Hitler. History states that Von Hindenburg was so reluctant to have Hitler be chancellor, he couldn't even look at him!

    LinkThis event in time was a perfect oppurtunity for Hitler to show people how efficient the Nazi Germany was. America had almost boycotted the idea of Germnay holding the games. Nazi Germany had set aside their racist ways to show the other foregin countries just to show how peaceful Germany was. Throughtout the games, Germnay was promoting themselves heavily, as the stadiums were covered in Nazi banners. Hitler was ashamed that an Africian American, Jesse Owens, was the star of the games.

    SourcePoland was invaded at 4:45 a.m. on September 1st of 1939. 1.5 million troops marched along the border and took over the land. At 5 pm on that day France declared war. German troops kept filing in a capturing the people of Poland. They were outmatched in every way. By June, Hitler had killed 3 million Jewish people in Poland.

    websiteAuschwitz was the biggest concentration camp of it's time established by Nazi. This is also where the most Jewish people died during the Holocaust. Mass murder became a daily routine, killing and eventually almost three million people died at this camp. Many children arriving at Auschwitz would be sent to gas chambers. During the end of the war gas was too expensive so children were just sent to ovens or thrown into burning pits.

    source Our naval base in Honolulu, Hawaii was attacked by the Japaneese. We didnt expect this to happen but we were not suprised when the Japaneese attacked the naval base. We were not happy with Japan because they were starting to try to take over China. During the attack 2,000 American soldiers and boat captains were killed. Also, 1,000 were injured.

    websiteEdith Syein was a born on Yom Kippur in 1891. She was born Jewish and it was almost a "sign" that she was born on such an imposrtant Jewish holiday. her father died when she was two years old. After trying, but failing she lost her faith at a young age. Later, she converted to Catholosism, but still got transferred into the consetration camp. Unfortunatly, Stien was gassed, but her legacy lives on!

    LinkHitler commited suicide on April 30th, 1945. He swalled a cyanide pill, otherwise known as the "kill-pill", and shot himself in the head with a pistol. In the room with him was his new wife, Eva, only married for two days, and his dog, Blondi. Eva had also killed herself in the same room as Hitler, at the same time, only she didn't shoot herslef, but just took the cyanide pill. Hitler and his wife were cremated by the bunker survivors, but the German court declared Hitler dead, 11 years later.
