Encoder Replacement

  • Planning and Analysis Phase

This will begin the phase of actively creating the project of deciding on an encoder change. We will have one year to plan this project of changing vendors.
  • Planning

This is the most critical step in the system selection process.
  • Period: to

    Encoder Replacement

  • Feasibility Study

A feasibility study is conducted by the healthcare facility to determine if a proposed IS is an appropriate option to meet the objectives of the healthcare facility. This study will examine the costs, the benefits, and any expected problems and will determine whether or not to proceed with the proposed IS.
  • Setting a budget

Setting a budget is a key factor in determining whether to implement an IS or not.
  • Goal and Objectives established

Goals and objectives will help determine what the healthcare facility wants or needs to accomplish with the implementation of the proposed system. Goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based.
  • Organization of the project.

When the decision is made to implement the new IS, organization must take place. This will require a project team to implement the IS
  • Systems Analysis

This is an important part of collecting, organizing, and evaluating data on the healthcare facility and the information that it needs.
  • Defining the scope of the project

The healthcare facility must define what the accomplishment project is. The healthcare facility must identify:
    -The purpose of the IS
-How the system links to the healthcare facility's business strategy
-The goals for and scope of the project
  • Design Phase

The design should reflect IS objectives, output specifications, input specifications, database design, and expected costs.
  • Determining who will build and maintain the system

During this phase of design, decisions should be made on whether the system should be cloud based or maintained by a vendor.
  • Choosing between integrated and interfaced information

If the decision is made to purchase an IS from a vendor, the next decision is whether the product should be integrated or interfaced.
Integrated information systems separate applications that are designed to work together. In an interfaced IS, the products are not designed to work together, but rather are linked through an interface. This means it will it will take data from one system and plugs data into another IS.
  • System Selection

In this phase we will use the following steps to make our system selection:
    1. Request for information and proposal
    2. Evaluate the proposed IS
    3. Selection of the IS
    4. Contract negatiation
  • Maintenance of the system

Our system is now installed and proper maintenance should be maintained. Regular training on the system will be implemented by the vendor as stated in the contract.
