Bastrop
Austin's contract for Bastrop provided for settlement of 100 families north of the San Antonio road and east of the Colorado R. -
San Felipes colony
It was the heart of Austin's colony. The population grew quickly. Austin moved over there to to live. -
Victoria
In 1824 Martin de Leon received permission to establish a colony (Victoria) along the lower Guadelupe R. -
San Felipe
Austin's colony needed a capital. In 1824, austin founded san Felipe de Austin, better know as San Felipe. -
Gonzales
Dewitt's colony (Gonzales) was located on the Gulf Coastal Plain. It was exposed to American Indian attacks. -
Refugio
In 1831, Power and Heweston received control of the former lands of the abandoned Nuestra Senora del Refugio Mission. -
San Patricio
In 1835, san Patricio, spanish for "Saint Patrick of Ireland", the population was washed away by cholera epidemic. -
Mexican and Irish settlers
