Forgotten Fire: pages 0-15
The book begins by introducing and describing a few of the characters. The main character, Vahan Kenderian, is a wealthy, Armenian child living in Bitlis, a province in Turkey. Then, Vahan's father is sent away for some time and Vahan doesn't know why, maybe something to do with the Turks?

Forgotten Fire: pages 15- 24
In this part of the book, the war begins to get closer to Bitlis, and Vahan's family. Also, some of the characters like Oskina, (Vahan's sister) and Uncle Mumpreh are introduced. Uncle Mumpreh is then taken away for a few days and returns home, and Vahan srtarts to notice more and more people being harmed from the war.

Forgotten Fire: pages 25- 43
Things start to take a toll for the worst in this part of the book. Two of Vahan's brothers are murdered by the Turks and then Vahan, his mother, Oskina, Grandmother, and Armenouhi are taken to Goryan's Inn, where they are locked in a black room with other dead victims for days. During this time, Armenouhi drinks some poison and kills herself cause she can't take the torture anymore. Fianlly, they get to leave the dark room starving, tired, and thirsty.

Forgotten Fire: pages 44- 65
After Vahan, his sister, grandmother, momther, and Sisak were let out of Goryan's Inn they were ordered to walk for hours and hours into the woods. His Grandmother had been killed with a rock when she went to drink some water. Then, that night Vahan and Sisak said goodbye to their sister and mother and escaped. They walked all night until they arrived at an abandonned village.

Forgotten Fire: pages 66- 78
Sisak and Vahan are hiding in an empty village home when two gendarmes spot them. The two brothers run and end up splitting up. Lonely, tired, and helpless, Vahan walks to his best friend, Pattoo's house to stay the night and it turns out, Pattoo and his mother are still alive, living there. However, Vahan is not supposed to be there, and if they get caught hiding him, they will all be killed, so he is forced to hide in a closet.

Forgotten Fire: pages 79- 124
After about a week, Vahan is sent home from the house. He ends up trapped in his school auditorium but escapes by squeezing through a toilet. Then he becomes a beggar for some time and eventually winds up back at Pattoo's house. Pattoo's mother talks to Selim Bay, (the terrorist) and he agrees to letting Vahan live in the stable of his house. After some time, Vahan meets Selim Bay and they get along and Vahan is cared for properly in the stable.

Forgetten Fire: pages 124- 158
Vahan moves to Kars with Selim Bay and lives in a new stable there. Then a little girl lives with him in the stable for about a week, while she is raped daily by the soldiers until she eventually dies. This is when Vahan starts feeling incredibly lonely. Then, they leave for Andreas and go live with Selim Bay's father, (Vahan in another stable). Finally Vahan decides he must escape the stable and finds himself marching with refugee Turks.

Fprgotten Fire: pages 159- 200
Vahan eventually stops living Turkish refugees' village and finds a home with a coppersmith and and young boy. He stays with them for eight days, but then goes to live in a mission home for Armenian girls, where he must dress up as a girl. He lives there for three months and then Dr. Tashian takes him to their large home to be a servant there.

Forgotten Fire: pages 200- 237
Vahan moves in with Dr. Tashian and gets comfortable there. After a few months, he meets Seta, an Armenian girl his age who lives at the German consul. They become very good friend and she gets pregnant and kicked out of the consul. So, the Tashians allow her to live with them, and they take care of her. She has the baby, but dies a week later. Shortly after, Mrs. Tashian dies from a stroke. Vahan is so sad that he leaves Dr. Tashian for Constantinpole, where it was said that Armenians were safe -
Forgotten Fire: pages 238- 272
Vahan traveled by wagon all the way to Samsun, where he then traveled four days by ship to go to Constantinopole. When him and Gigak, (the other Armenian boy he met on the ship) arrived there, they were moved into anorphanage where they recieved clean clothes and a bed. The war ended and Turkey and Germany were defeated. Two years later, in 1920, Vahan was reunited with Oskina.
