    Queen Elizabeth I the daughter of King Henry VIII and his second wife, Anne Boleyn, is born. Before she is crowned Queen though, she will have to face some hard times.

    Stripped of Title as Princess

    Jane Seymour dies following the premature birth of her son, the future King Edward VI.
    Princess Elizabeth is declared a bastard child.
  • Jan 28, 1547

    Father Dies

    King Henry VIII the father of Queen Elizabeth I dies. She does indeed mourn over the loss of her father though she did not see him very often.
  • Nov 17, 1558

    Death of Mary

    Death of Queen Mary I.
    Elizabeth succeeds her Catholic sister Mary I as Queen of England and re-establishes the Protestant Anglican Church.
  • Apr 30, 1562

    Small Pox

    Queen Elizabeth almost dies after conrtacting a terrible case of Small Pox. For a while the doctors even said she would not make it.

  • Protection of the Netherlands

    Queen Elizabeth declines offers by the Dutch commission for sovereignty of the Low Countries but issues a declaration taking the Netherlands under her protection.

  • Spanish Armada Destroyed

    The Spanish Armada of 132 ships is defeated by the English fleet of 34 ships and 163 armed merchant vessels led by Lord Howard of Effingham, Sir Francis Drake, and Sir John Hawkins.

  • Death of the Queen

    Queen Elizabeth dies on 24 March 1603 of of blood poisoning. She is succeeded by James I of England, James VI of Scotland, (great-grandson of Henry VIII).
