Anne Boleyn is executed
Elizabeth's mother Anne Boleyn was executed on May 13, 1536. When her mother was executed it made Elizabeth an illegitamite heir to the throne. King Henry VIII soon remarried to Jane Seymour and the two quickly have a son, Prince Edward to be the heir to King Henry VIII's throne. Jane Seymour died shortly after the birth of Prince Edward in 1537.(Phillips) -

French Defeated Spain at Ceresole Battle
The Battle of Ceresole took place in the Italian war between the French and the Spanish. This battle took place in present day Italy. The result of the war was a French victory but the French failed to exploit the victory because they were unable to take control of the city of Milan.(Sixteenth Century) -

Russia Conquers the Khanate
the Khanate of Kazan and the Muscovite of Russia had a seris of battles starting in 1438. This rivalry was over the land of Kazan.In 1552 Ivan the Terrible was finally able to conquer the Khanates. This demolished the nation oh Kazan. (Sixteenth Century) -

Elizabeth is imprisoned
At this time the monarch of England is Elizabeth's sister Queen Mary. Queen Mary is a strict Catholic, while Elizabeth is a Protestant. During Queen Mary's rule all Protestants were persecuted including Elizabeth. Elizabeth was put in prison in the Tower of London, because of her supposed involvement in a religous rebellion against Queen Mary.(Queen Elizabeth I Timeline) -

Elizabeth is crowned queen
Elizabeth's sister Mary became severly ill in May of 1558. When she falls ill she had no children so she named Elizabeth the heir to her throne. Shortly after this Mary passed away leaving the now twenty-five year old Elizabeth to be queen. This began Elizabeth's legandary reign as Queen of England.(Grant) -

Elizabeth makes announcement of her religion
Previously under Queen Mary the national religion was CAtholic. Although Catholic was the national religion many people still practiced being Protestant. This caused tension with in the country. When Elizabeth came into power she was a practicing Protestant, so she changed the national religion to Protestant. She was tolerant of other religions and tries to please all of the Catholics, but she was also aware that there could be a religious uprising against her.(Grant) -

Queen Elizabeth refuses to marry
As queen Elizabeth was expected to marry and have children so that she could have a proper heir to her throne. When she became queen she was pressured into marrying and her advisors recommended to her that she get married. At this time she looked into potential suitors but never married. William Shakespeare was born in Straford Upon Avon, England. He was an actor, and a playwright. Shakespeare would grow up to go down in history as one of if not the greatest playwright to ever live. The Gregorian Calendar was Issued
The Gregorian Calendar was issued in 1582 as a reform of the previously used Julian calendar. The reform was made to change the date of Easter. The Gregorian calendar is still used today and is the calendar that almost all countries use today (Sixteenth Century Inventors). -
Queen Elizabeth Starts the Anglo-Spainish War

Battle with the Spainish Armada
An English pirate by the name of Sir Francis Drake. Drake had been raiding Spainish ships for some time and this was bad for the Spainish economy and government. In attempts to syop the raids the Spainish sent their feared fleet of ships called the Armada.The English milatary was prepared to fight. Elizabeth made a famous speech before the battle to motivate the soliders.The speech worked because the men went on to beat the Armada in a naval battle. (Thackery) -
Zacharias Janssen Invents the Microscope
Zacharias Janssen was a Dutch eye glass maker from Middleburg in the Netherlands. While trying to improve his eye spectacles for those with bad eyesight he stumbled upon the invention of the compound microscope. Galileo invents the thermoscope
In 1603 Galileo invented the first device to measure changed in temperature. The thermoscope worked by having a tube with liquid that would rise and fall with the temperature. Although there ws no scale of measurement this was the frist device to have any capability of measuring temperature.(Sixteenth Century Inventors) -
Start of the Nine Years War
The Nine Years War begane when the Catholic territory of Ireland felt that they were being treated unfairly by their ruler, England. With support from Spain, Irish Catholics rebeled against Queen Elizabeth for her Protestant ways. Queen Elizabeth Dies
After ruling England for forty-five years Queen Elizabeth I died from reasons linked to derpression. In the Autumn of 1602 a number of Elizabeth's close friends and confidants passed away leaving her in a state of depression. Her death marked the end of her reign, and her rule would go down in British history. (Grant)
