    Elementary & Secondary Education Act of 1965
    This act was President Lyndon B. Johnson's cornerstone on the war on poverty. This act was created to provide resources to vulnerable students and it offered new grants to districts serving low income students, federal grants for textbooks and library books, it also created scholarships for students who were low income and it created centers for special education.

    IDEA replaced the Education of Handicapped Act in 1990, which states that children with disabilities are entitled to a free appropriate public education and that each child education will be planned out with and IEP or IFSP. This act will also ensure that children with disabilities be prepared for employment and independent living and that children with disabilities and their families are protected by law.
