Off grid-living
For the last 12 years they have been building the world's most interesting living laboratories for sustainable off-grid living. They built five towering wind turbines, built a huge reservoir that works as a battery, and installed three desalination plants that will let the tiny outpost harvest its drinking water from the sea. -
Just wind
The island will become the first in the world to be fully powered by wind and water. The island uses hydroelectric power during low-wind periods, and wind farms provide the power required to pump water back into the reservoir located in a volcanic crater 2,300 feet above sea level. -
Oil drilling
In August 2014, the Spanish Minister of Industry gave the multinational oil company Repsol permission to drill three exploratory deep-water perforations in the ocean seabed near the Canary Islands, this could result with environment disaster of unimaginable proportions.
