  • 322 BCE

    Aristotle

    Aristotle
384-322 Aristotle proved that the earth was the middle of the universe. He also proved that the Sun, Moon, and Stars were all sperical and the Earth wasn´t. He thought that the universe was only made up of four elements: Earth, water, air, and fire (even though he was 100% wrong).
  • 168

    Ptolemy

    Ptolemy
100-168 AD Ptolemy had also thought that all the planets circled earth in a perfect circle. He thought the earth wads stationary and all the planets circled it.He thought that the sun, moon, planets, and stars all must travel in uniform motion along a most perfect path possible, a circle.
  • 1543

    Copernicus

    Copernicus
1473-1543 Copernicus was thinking that the earth wasn't the center of the universe, the sun was. He also thought that Earth turns once daily on its own axis. He thought made big impact on future scientist in the scientific revolution. He was the only person who actually had this 50% beter than Aristotle and Ptolemy.
  • Tycho

    Tycho
1546-1601He still supported the Earth centered universe and would use planetary positions to prove that the earth centered earth was the correct way and only way. He supported there theories on how the Earth was still the center of the universe (even thought Tycho, Aristotle, and Ptolemy were all 100% wrong). He also found a star in the Cassiopeia formation.
  • Hans Lippershey

    Hans Lippershey
1570-1619 He was the one who created the telescope. This was a big deal because this helped people see the stars in the sky and the planets in our universe.
  • Johannes Kepler

    Johannes Kepler
1571-1630 Johannes made up 3 planetary movement laws. First law was that all the planets move in eliptical movement. Second was the time necessary to traverse a planetary orbit is proportional to the area of the sector between the central body and that arc. Third was there is an exact relationship between the squares of the planets’ and the cubes of the radii and their orbits.
  • Galileo

    Galileo
1564-1642 Galileo paved the way for the future astronomers to finally accept the heliocentric universe. He was the one who made the scientific method ( a specific way to figure out a question). His pababolic trajectories marked a new begining of the study of motion.
  • Giovanni Cassini

    Giovanni Cassini
1625-1712 Giovanni found the dark gap between the 2 rings near saturn. He also found the 4 moons around near Saturn and he was also the first to see the shadows off Jupiter's satellites as they passed down between that planet and the sun. He also found Jupiters rotational periods because of the little spots on it.
  • Isaac Newton

    Isaac Newton
1643-1724 Issac made the theory of gravity and the laws of motion. He also created the reflecting telescope which helps when you want to see it better through the telescope. He is one of the greatest scientist because he found out that the planets had a gavitational pull on the planets.
  • William Herschel

    William Herschel
1738-1822 William discovered the planet Uranus. He is the founder of sidereal astronomy for the observation of the heavens. He hypothesized that nebulea are composed of stars, and developed a theory of stellar evolution.
  • Karl Jansky

    Karl Jansky
1905-1950 Karl discovered radio waves from a extraterrestrial source and then he inaugarated the development of radio astronomy. He found out that the stars were causing unindentified radio interference. He helped us find a way to comunicate to the astronauts in the space ships.
  • Edwin Hubble

    Edwin Hubble
1889-1953 Edwin created the biggest telescope to be lauched into space. He helped us establish a field of extragalactic astronomy. He had helped us by giving us a big picture of the planets every few years.
  • Albert Einstein

    Albert Einstein
1879-1955 Albert created many things in his life time but he was known for his theory of gravity. He proved that matter causes space to curve, which produces gravity. He also proved that light follows the path mapped out by the gravitational curve of space.
  • Sputnik

    Sputnik
1957 Sputnik was a satellite program that launched a probe to see if it could survive the atmosphere in space. They shot the first living creature into space ( a dog) and they got the spacecraft back with success but Liaka didn't get so lucky. They made a successful rotation aruond the earth but they weren't able to keep the very first creature alive.
  • Yuri Gargrin

    Yuri Gargrin
Yuri was the first person to go into space ever he was a start of a new future a exploring space future. He was the first astronaut for the soviet union to go into space and was awarded the medal "Order of Lenin" and the Hero of the soviet union. He entered the soviet union air force at Orenburg from which he graduated in 1957 by that time he didn't know that he was going to be huge name for years to come.
  • John Glenn

    John Glenn
1921-2016 John made a astronomy park for people to see the diffrent constilations in the sky like Leo. He was also the first american to make a full orbit around the earth in 1962 and was a pionner of space exploration. He also was a state senator for our country and had time before to do this and make amazing observations and parks for the future astronomers to see.
  • First space shuddle flight

    First space shuddle flight
The first space shuttle mission was piloted by astronaut John Glenn who performed three orbits of the Earth making him the first U.S. astronaut to orbit the Earth. He was also 77years old a still decided to to this even though he could die but he didn't. He was the first to ever go aruond the earth 3 times which that is a big acheivement for his age.
  • Percival Lowell

    Percival Lowell
1855-1967 Percival was the one who determined that there was a planet beyond the planet Neptune and it was called pluto. He found the planet pluto up in Flagstaff,AZ which is called Lowell Observatory. He helped us find out there was more out there in our solar system then what we thought.
  • Ejnar Hetzsprung

    Ejnar Hetzsprung
1873-1967 Ejnar established the luminosity scale of Cepheid variable stars it was a tool to find the measurement of the between intergalatic distances. He proved that a relationship exists between the colours of the stars and their true brightness and that gaint and dwarf stars must exsist. The correlation of color with true brightness became a widely used method of eliminating the so-called spectroscopic parallaxes of stars this estimates of their distances from the Earth.
  • Neil Armstrong

    Neil Armstrong
1930-2012 Neil was the first person to walk on the moon for USA. Since he was the first person to be on the moon that is a big respect because he went out of his way to do something that might not even work and he could die never seing his family again. Even though he did this he camke back with some rock samples and which that was huge because he gave us a clear future to the moon and what it was made up of.
  • The Apollo Program

    The Apollo Program
1963-1972 The Apollo program helped us understand what the moon looked like and get men onto the moon. They helped get the rocks back by getting the materials to bring those ships all together and which that is alot of money for over 17 rockets. This understanding of the moon couldn't have been understandable because of how the apollo program went out of their way to get to the moon a back safely.
  • Mars pathfinder expedition

    Mars pathfinder expedition
The mars pathfinder gave us a bigger prospevtive of nearby planet mars. This gave us inteal on if we could live their or we would have to keep on looking. This was a way for us to see that cheap inexpensive mission would work in the future.
  • Cassino Orbiter

    Cassino Orbiter
The cassino helped us to get a better understaning of the ringed planet Saturn and its moons. This gave us valuable information on the planet Saturn and they found Titan one of saturns biggest moons. They say ¨that it had better senses than our own¨ that is a really big deal to have a shuttle better at something than us. This was probaly had one of the highest sensers because it could sense Magnetic fields, mass, electrical charges, and densities of atomic particles plus the strength of plasma.
  • NASA's InSight spacecraft

    NASA's InSight spacecraft
The nasa insight spacecraft has just landed in 2012 and is helping us find a better understanding of the planet Mars for the 5th time in our history. The Insight helped us understand that the atmosphere is just like ours because it only allows small little meteorites to come in through its atmosphere. Even thogh the move to mars is in the long future it is still the time to go and see just incase of a event that destroys the whole Earth so we need to have a plan just incase if that does happen.
  • Refracting and reflecting

    Refracting and reflecting
A refracting telescope is a telescope which uses a converging lens to collect the light, and a reflecting telescope is a telescope in which a mirror is used to collect and focus light. These two are diffrent because a reflecting telescope uses two mirrors instead of two lenses. Newton developed his telescope to see chromatic a rainbow seen around some objects viewed with a refractor telescope. ...Light from an object enters the telescope tube and is reflected off a mirror at the end of the tube.
