Rugby Champion
Hick Abbott was a member of the Regina Rugby Club which won the western championship 11-1 over Calgary. The Western Champion was not allowed to challenger the Eastern Champion for the Grey Cup until 1921. This was also the last championship game until after World War I This championship is recognised by the Saskatchewan Roughriders as one of the Western Conference Championships.

Death
Hick Abbott was killed by a sniper's bullet as he lead his troops out of a trench during the Battle of Amiens. This battle is considered the turning point of World War I
