  • First Public School

    When the 20's came about, the first public school in the U.S., Boston Latin School, had already been around for centuries. It was the kickoff for all education and education reform.
  • First High School

    The first public high school was called the English High School. It was created in Boston, Massachusettes.
  • First Kindergarten

    "In 1856 Margarethe Schurz started a kindergarten in the Schurz's Watertown home for her young daughter and four of her daughter's cousins. When more children wanted to join, Mrs. Schurz opened a school in this small building. This was the first kindergarten in America."
  • Horace Mann School

    Horace Mann School is an independent college prep school that still exists in New York City today.

  • Women Suffrage

    Women Suffrage
    Women earned the right to vote in the 19th Ammendment to the Constitution.

    Women Education Increase

    After the 19th Ammendment, education for women became a normal thing because people thought if women can vote like a man can, they can also go to school and learn as well, though there were some social limits.
  • New Classes

    New classes are available for students. For example: art, music, geography, home ec.
  • First Graduate School

    First Graduate School
    Clark University in Worcester, Massachusettes opened the first graduate school of geography.
  • Junior Colleges

    Junior Colleges started popping up all over the U.S. during th Roaring 20's. They are cheaper, and most consisted of certain trades.
