The Day I Was Born
I was born at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Washington Court House, Ohio on March 12, 1996. -
The Day I Met Nathan
For those who don't know, I have been with my boyfriend for 4.5 years. I know it may seem sappy posting about him on a class-assigned timeline, but he has had a huge impact on my life. I've been with him for almost five years, so all of my following memories either involve him or he was there for. Sorry for being sappy, but he represents a huge chunk of my life that I didn't feel right leaving out. -
The Day I Got Accepted
This is the day I got accepted at Shawnee. This is also the day that I decided to further my education here. I didn't really consider any other schools, and when I got in here, I wasn't turning back. -
The Day I Decided on Teaching
This was the defining day for me. This was the day that I knew everything that went in to teaching children was all worth it. During a community service class in high school, I worked with second-graders for a semester. This was near the end of the term, and I knew at our Halloween party, after seeing all their sweet costumes and faces, that I was doing what God set out for me to do. -
The Day I Graduated
This was the day I graduated high school. I was very excited and eager to start my journey in higher education. -
The Day I Found My Sweet Boy
This was the day I found my sweet Brucey. For those who don't know me, my dog is literally my child. I treat him just as if he were a person. I found him roaming the streets of Portsmouth late at night, so I picked him up and took him home that next day. The rest is history! -
The Day I Fell In Love With Politics
I have always had a love for history and politics, but that all changed when I went to Washington, D.C. for the first time. As soon as I got there, my love for everything political just grew. I can't wait to go back again this March! -
The Day I Started The Club
This was the day that I started our EC Club. This is very important to me because getting the idea for this club made me realize how much I really love this major. I wouldn't have started the club if I didn't truly care about the club's purpose, and getting involved with that has been wonderful. -
The Day I Realized Teaching Is Hard
We've all been told this our whole lives, "teaching isn't easy." And I've known that. But it wasn't until this summer, when I was given the opportunity to actually teach on my own a class of three and four-year-olds that I truly saw how hard teaching was. College doesn't prepare you for the feelings you get as a teacher. This summer, I got to actually experience what a teacher feels like every day. All I can be is thankful for this opportunity, because now I feel so much more prepared. -
The Day I Became An RA
I've only been an RA for just under a month, and my life has already changed so much. I look at people in a new light, I am much more optimistic, and I feel so much more mature as a person since going through training and becoming an RA. When people say that it is an amazing opportunity, please believe it. I have never met a group of people who feel so much like family. The love I have developed for each and every person is life-long, and I cannot wait to see what this year has in store for me. -
The Day I Started Phonics
Honestly, English is one of my least favorite subjects to teach. I really enjoy teaching history and math, however I am really excited to learn about different ways to teach children. I hope to gain from this course both confidence and interest in the subject, so that I can carry both qualities on to my students.
