Signed Up for the Class
Okay, so this wasn't the point at which I signed up for the class, really. This was the moment I entered my information into the Google form that Dean created for the class. -

Set Up My Blog
My blog had been set up since the new year, but I made some changes to my blog at this point so that I could have my education posts appear separately from my personal posts. -
First Blackboard Session
This was the first session we had as a class, and it was the first time I was able to "meet" some of my peers. Unfortunately I wasn't able to be at this session "live" as I was at work, but it was great to watch. It was a challenge to open up the Blackboard Collaborate program at first, but I got the hang of it as soon as I asked for help! -
Set up Feedly
This is the first time I set up my feedly account, and I loved this tool for keeping track of class posts. It would become the first place I would go to when I wanted to read my classmates' posts. -
My First ECMP 355 Blog Post
This posts was a chance to introduce myself and my expectations for the class. I think the first sentence of my post reveals how I was feeling about the class. Nervous, but excited! -
Second Class Meeting
This was the next time our class met, and even though I came a few minutes late, it was great to jump into the conversation, especially to learn so much about blogging! I updated my blog some more at this point, and was searching through my classmates' blogs. I shared my blog with others as an example of how to set up their blogs. -
I Confess my Weariness of Google
This was following our meeting about using google in the classroom. I revealed my hesitation to work with google, and got some great feedback from my peers. -
Mentoring Overview
In this meeting, we were able to learn about the mentoring process and how it might look. -
Blog post - embedding a form
I was a little late doing my homework, and on January 20th I posted my technology survey on my blog. The blackboard session was great for learning how to embed things, I didn't know how to do it beforehand. -
Blackboard Session about Blogging
Again, I learned some more about blogging. Especially about the community that can come along with blogging! I shared my blog with the group during this meeting, and had a chance to show it off - I was pretty proud! -
Dean Used his Internet Fame to Help Me Out
On January 23rd, I posted on my blog about literacies, and the various literacies we might be able to teach with in our classrooms. Dean used his twitter-fame to get some insightful comments on my blog. It was a great discussion and a really interesting experience for me - it was neat to know there were experts all around the world that might be able to help me with some of my "big questions". -
Blackboard Session - Learning Communities
We learned some new ways to develop your learning community through the internet. Really interesting, and an advantage for teachers in this century. You are never alone! -
First Contact with Mentor
This was the first time I spoke with my mentor. I was so excited for the experience! -
I Found Some AWESOME Resources
I followed/bookmarked lots of new resources for education. The first time I posted this blog, I didn't learve links, so I recieved several comments asking how to find the resources. Whoops! -
We Looked Into Visual CV's and Getting a Job
George Couros gave us some tips about our presence online and how that can affect job opportunities. One of the most interesting things for me from this session was the idea that we don't need more than one account with online tools. Our personal accounts should be professional. -
We Met Some International Teachers
This was a great opportunity to learn about international teaching and collaboration! My highlight: those accents! -

Technology Failure
This was the break I took to visit my grandparents, who were not well. I usually would have internet access when visiting them, but not this time! I tried so hard to get an opportunity to go online. I was completely cut off from the world for three weeks! -

Back-and-forth with Joy
During this time, Joy and I sent countless emails trying to arrange a time and a lesson that I could do with her students. In the end, we just picked a time and talked over the phone. Email is great, but sometimes hearing a voice is just what you need to get a plan into action. -
First Visit with Mentor's Class
This was my first time visiting my mentor's class. I forgot to take any screen shots or to video it. I was able to meet lots of Joy's students and to learn about their genius hour projects. It was awesome to interact with others in this way! -
Catching Up With What I Had Missed
In my absence, I had missed a few Blackboard sessions and needed desperately to catch up on some tech tasks! I had missed some that I had intended to do while I was out of the country, and there were new ones to do. Things were starting to pile up, ut I made it through! -
More Catching Up!
After Dean graciously gave us some time to work on our blogs, tech tasks, and mentoring projects, I was able to play around with some coding tools and get some work done for my mentorship lesson. I also spent this time reviewing my peers' blogs. -
Teaching Mentor's Class
Using today's meet and some good-old flash card technology, I was able to instruct a grammar lesson for Joy's class. It was a really fun experience, and the group was so energetic and welcoming! We had some technological hiccups, but it was a lot of fun! -
Interview with Joy
This was my opportunity to "sit down" with my mentor and pick her brain about all sorts of things! It was an amazing experience, and she gave some amazing responses to my questions.
