Jaime Escalante Calculus teacher
In 1982 Jaime's entire high school class of low income Hispanic children passed the States Advanced Placement calculus test. They were doubted and were asked to retake the test and most of the students retook the test and passed again. Escalante was known as "the most famous and influential American public-school teacher of his generation.” I think this is an important event because it takes one person to make a positive ripple effect on other people just like this teacher did.
