    The Magna Carta is Drafted

    The Magna Carta is Drafted
    King John of England was forced to sign the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta was drafted by Archbishop Stephen Langton. The Magna Carta was to created to make the King control by the old English laws. It was apart of a collection of 37 laws. Copies were made and handed out to other important people thoughout England.
  • The petition of Right is Drafted

    The petition of Right is Drafted
    It was written by the English Parliament. The document declared to be unconstitutional of the King. King Charles I did not approve of the petition, but he knew of no way to go around it. It states that the martial law can not be imposed in time of peace. It also stated that the English Parliment is the only one who can change the taxes.

    The English Bill of Rights is Drafted
    The English Bill of RIghts, was a mixture of 3 documents put together in the American ideal style. It was written to limite power of the royal power and an act of Parliament. Appeantely, King James offended the Protestant church and so an arguement began and it lead to this document. This document was written to ensure the rights of the Englishmen. It was an act of Parliament.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    It was the act of applying stamp duties in the British Colonies. Taxes were put upon documents, letters, paper goods, and other products. The colonies did not agree very well of the stamp tax being enforced. George Grenville, had an idea of creating a stamp tax to pay for the expenses from the French and Indian War. The British wanted the colonies to contribute some money to help pay for the national debt that had doubled.

    The Townshend Act lead to protests to start up again. The colonists did however, agree to let Britian control their trades. The duties of the Townshend Act were; glass, lead, paint, paper, and tea. There was an act that granted custums agency in Boston to collect more efficiently. In 1770, the Parliament withdrew all the duties except for the one on tea.

    The Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a fight between a patriot and the british soldiers. It was located in the middle of the street. The weapons that they had used, were; snowballs, stones, and sticks. The British soldiers attacked and killled 3 citizens on the spot and wounded 8, who died later on. The Boston Massacre lead to the Revolutionary War. A town meeting was called upon to remove the British troops.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Parliament made the East Indian Company travel to America and then head over to Britian afterwards. The Tea Act was intended to lower the cost of tea for the colonies. The Tea Act was to help the East Indian Company expand benefit them. There was no new taxes on the tea from this act. The colonies reacted to the Tea Act in december as a resistance in the Boston Tea Party.
  • First Continental Congress

    First Continental Congress
    The First Continental Congress took place at Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia. It lasted from Septemeber 5th to October 26th, 1774. The delegates from every colony were sent, except Georgia. The colonies were to agree on documents and decide upon debates and discussions. Congress and the colonies agreed to return the following year if England did not approve of the colonies common principles.

    The Second Continental Congress took place in the Philadelphia after the Battle of Lexington and Concord. There were new members added to the list of delegates. Georgia was included to the 2nd Continental Congress. The congress had issued The Olive Branch Petition. It was sent to the King, but he didn't accept it.

    Common Sense Published By Thomas Paine
    Common Sense By Thomas Paine was published in Philadelphia. It's about getting freedom from Brittian, it argues about multiple different topics through out the entire thing. It discusses government, religion, and other problems/situations with the colonies. The document is trying to get Britian to approve of the colonies becoming independent. Paine wrote his opinion and his point of view on things happening.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    The Declaration of Independence
    There was a total of 56 delegates who signed the Declaration of Independence. There were 4 delegates total who disapproved of the document, but still signed it anyways. The Declaration of Independence arrived in London on August 10th. On July 19th, Congress decided to make a hand written copy of it with all of the signatures from the delegates. The hand written copy was printed on January 18th. The Declaration of Independence was to get independence from Britian.
