President Truman fires General MacArthur
President Truman fired MacArthur because he made comments which contradicted policies of the administration. MacArthur was relieved of his duties because he wanted to keep attacking and destroying communist countries, whereas the government wanted to take a much calmer plan of action. -

Was a pact between the Soviets and several Eastern European countries. The Warsaw Pact was a treaty to combat those of Western Germany in NATO. -

The Cuban Missile Crisis was a 13 day confrontation between the U.S and the Soviets concerning American Ballistic missile in Turkey, and a Soviet missile in Cuba. The Soviet missiles were placed just 90 miles south of Florida and pointed towards D.C.
