    First ever Picture Book

    John Comenius was known for creating the first ever picture books "The great Didactic" and "Orbis Pictus". He also believed that children were like small plants and that they could be shaped early and that sensory was the best way of education for young children.

    Tabula Raska

    John Locke believed the children develop better from the stimulation that the parents provided them. His theory "The mind is blank tablet or Tabula Raska" mainly focused on the children's background, and the child's environment/home life. He had believed that early learning would help decrease negative effects on poverty, neglect, and the drop out rate for young children. John indeed wanted to make every child feel equal regarding their up bringing.

    Advocated Natural Learning Approaches

    Jean Jacques Rousseau believed that children should learn the way they want to by letting the child lead their own learning from their own personal interest. He stated "God makes all things good; man meddles with them and they become evil" because of this bold statement he was able to implement that educators need to match the children's developmental levels and abilities

    Opened First Infant School in London

    Robert Owen opened a infant school for his employers from ages 18 months to 10 years old because he believed that the environment could shape the children and create a better society along with shaping the children's characters. Since his belief was so successful in 1818 he was able to open up a second Infant school which was the very first Infant school in London

    "Father of Kindergarten"

    Friedrich Wilhelm Froebel theory for child care was to teach the children activities that would enable them to learn. He also thought that teachers should be known as a gardener helping his/her plants grow and unfold into flowers. Friedrich also developed a curriculum where children would thrive through different songs, toys, and games.

    Translated the Bible from Latin to vernacular languages

    Martin Luther king believed that all children should have the right to learn how to read. He was able to translate the bible into multiple languages so all cultures could read the bible.

    Montessori Method

    Maria Montessori's passion was creating a solution to teaching children who suffered from mental retardation, paralysis, and deafness. She decided to go her own route and finding a solution. Maria opened her first school in Rome known as "Casa Dei Bambini" where she implemented her ideas which were very successful and we still use some of her methods today. Maria was also the first woman in Italy to earn her Medical Degree.

    Constructionist Learning Theory

    Jean Piaget theory was that children see knowledge and we should follow their lead when it comes to their learning. Jean focused on his own children as well to see how they learned and what peaked their interests. The constructivism regarded creating a learning space that could give the child self-initiated learning by having discussions, group presenting, and projects for the children to do as hands on learning.
