    Martin Luther

    Martin Luther translated the bible from Latin to Vernacular language to educate others languages. He established schools to teach children how to read and ultimately wanted to gain support of education.

    Johann Pestalozzi

    Was an advocate that education should follow nature's course. Also introduced an education based on sensory impressions. She promoted the idea that a mother could best teach children and that when children can represent experiences through drawing, writing, etc. learnnig really occurs.

    Robert Owen

    Held that an environment determines children's beliefs, behaviors, and achievments. He believed that society shapes a child's character and who they become as a person. He also taught that having an education can build a whole new society.
  • Friedrich Frobel

    Friedrich Frobel created the idea called the "Garden of Children" He believed children are unique with unique needs and that those needs should always try to be met. He also came up with the idea of "Froebel gifts" which were toys given to children for educational purposes.

    Jean Piget

    Developed a theory of cognitive based on ages and stages of development. They expressed that mental and physical activiities are also important for cognitive development. She expressed that children develop their own intelligence and called them "little scientists"

    Abraham Maslow

    Developed the theory of self actualization based on needs and motivation. Also a theory of human development which is the process of meeting basic needs throughout life. He showed the importance of meeting basic needs before cognitive learning could occu, and helped teachers develop programs to meet teachers needs.
  • No child left behind Act

    The No Child left behind Act was creaated for the purpose to make it so schools are accountable for their teaching efforts. They came up with this idea so that for schools to be funded they had to test the children and be adequate in their progress.
  • Barack Obama

    In 2013 Barack Obama passed the act named " The prescchool for all Initative" It was put in place to create high quality preschools around the nation. The purpose of this act is to promote access to education for children under the age of four.
