    since 1483 many people have believed how important early child hood education is. As did John Locke, Robert Owen and many others have protested in favor of education. Martin Luther King established schools to teach children how to read. Our Former President Obama said " Every child deserves a world class education"
  • Father of Kindergarten

    Father of Kindergarten
    Fredrich Wilhelm Froebel known as the father of Kindergarten believed that the teachers role is to observe children as they unfold naturally. He compared a teacher to a gardener and how children unfolded just like a flower. He later opened a kindergarten in Germany in 1837.

    Dewey’s progressive education theory
    John Dewey believed that a child is more important than the subject. He believed children should express their interests through daily life skills. Dewey did more than anyone else for the education.
  • Education and Civil Rights

    The civil rights made an alteration to the education in 1962. The federal government ensured that education was for all and that everyone had one. This creating an amendment to the civil rights act in 1972

    Another great accomplishment in education happened in 1966. Congress passed the elementary and secondary education act ESEA. The ESEA help educate children coming from low income families.

    In 1965 the beginning of Head start, the EOA started several programs to promote health, education and general welfare. Head start is one of the longest programs to address poverty. Also a place that children start to learn and play while they learn one of the theory's on how children develop best.

    1975-1990 were the 2 years that changed for the handicapped and the children with disabilities. In 1975 congress passed a public law The Education of All Handicapped Children EAHC. In 1990 the EAHC was renamed the Individuals with Disabilities Education act IDEA.

    Jean Piaget devoted his life to learn how children learned and developed. He conducted experiments and observed them, all the while developing and writing about his theory. His theory is child centered and learning centered, essential feature to teaching and learning.

    When we look at how education has changed to be better from back then we see how disabled or handicapped were treated and dumb when today we know they are equal and we can educate them equally. Thankfully with research and theories in education we have been able to accommodate children in their appropriate learning abilities.
