Massacre at Mystic
The Mystic massacre took place on May 26, 1637, during the Pequot War, when English settlers under Captain John Mason, and Narragansett and Mohegan allies set fire to a fortified Pequot village near the Mystic River.
Showed that peace between white and black was not possible. -

The law authorized the president to negotiate with southern Indian tribes for their removal to federal territory west of the Mississippi River in exchange for their ancestral homelands. -
Nat Turner Rebellion
Led by Nat Turner, rebel slaves killed anywhere from 55 to 65 people, the highest number of fatalities caused by any slave uprising in the American South.
This was a step towards the slaves becoming free. -
Trail of Tears
Cherokee Indians are forced to move from Georgia to Arkansas by President Andrew Jackson. Thousands of Indians died in the forced move. -
Dred Scott Decision
Dred Scott's master moved him to a free state and then back to a slave state. Dred Scott sued, saying that since he loved in afree state he was a free man. The Supreme COurt says Dred Scott can't sue, because slaves aren't citizens of the United States. -
Emancipation Proclamation
Presidental act thay freed slaves in the rebeling states. This was the first step to ending slavery in the United States. -
13th Amendment
Constitutional amendment that ended slaveery in the United States. -
14th Amendment
The 14th Amendment officially makes blacks citizens of the United States. -
15th Amendment
Gives black men the right to vote. -

Plessy v. Ferguson, 163 U.S. 537, was a landmark United States Supreme Court decision upholding the constitutionality of state laws requiring racial segregation in public facilities under the doctrine of "separate but equal".
