Participates in the Bolshevik Revolution
The October Revolution in Petrograd overthrew the government and gave the power to the locals dominated by the major faction of the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party. In 1928 he began his five year plan to industrialize the Soviet Union(The Famous People).Stalin will raise the USSR to a worldwide superpower. The nation will fight the Nazis in World War II, have a cold war with the US, and spread communism throughout the world. Begins Dictatorship of USSR
Following the death of Lenin, and the elimination of his political adversaries, Stalin was in the prime position to become supreme leader over the soviet union. He would lay the groundwork for Russian growth for decades to come( The Famous People). Great Purge begins
In the early 1930's Stalin began to worry about the security of his power. He then began what is known as the the Great Purge. The purge was a series of internments, deportations, and killings of Stalin's polictical adverseries. Stalin had amassed an unprecedented amount of power. Not only was Stalin silencing all his opponents through mass deportations and murder, but he was in control of the public's mind through the media. Non Aggresion Pact signed
In 1939 Stalin and Hitler of Germany signed the non-agression pact which stated the neither country would attack eachother during Germany's conquest. This gave Stalin power to construct a large military force without the fear of angering Nazi Germany. The German's would later renig on this policy. (Wikipedia.org) -
World War II Eastern front opens
The battle on the Eastern front began in1941 with Germany invading Soviet territory. THis limited Stalin.s power in a way by absorbing his entire schedule to fight a war. The Premier Soviet did manage to garner public pride and support through the war (Wikipedia). -
Stops German invasion
After hard losses and massive destruction, the Soviets finally managed to stop their invaders. The Red Army would begin pushing back into Germanay. This would show Stalin's military power to stop the most determined enemy of world history (The Famous People). -
Victory in WWII
The Soviets had warded off a insurmountable threat with little to no help from the other allies. This was an incredible feat and once again proved the Soviet Power (Wikipedia). -
Cold War begins
Resentment was left after the Soviet Union had singehandedly stopped German eastern expansion without U.S. assistance. This rivalry would last for decades as the U.S. and Soviets try to spread their political systems throughout the world. Stalin's choices would influence the fall of the Soviet Union and contribute to the debt of the 1980's in America (WIkipedia). -
Stalin's Death
Stalin died from plaque buildup in his arteries due to his heavy smoking habit. He would leave behind a legacy of far reaching control and ruthless power. His succesors would either try to rebuild his legacy or tear down what was left of it (Wikipedia).
