First Event
Paul Abrams has just moved to New York City and attends Don Carey High School. On his first day, he realizes that none of the students or teachers care about anything that goes on within the school. -
First Friend
Paul is soon met with a boy named Sheldon, who transferred a year ago. He has more interest in school than the other students because he is still new. He and Paul quickly become friends, being the only students who still show interest in anything. -
Sheldon's Plan
Sheldon was upset because of the fact that nobody cared about the school. He had the idea if they got an unsuspecting student to run for president, things would change. Sheldon devises a plan to elect a Student Body president, and slowly convinces Paul. -
Introducing Mike Otis
Paul and Sheldon decide to select a unique student named Mike Otis to become the Student Body President. Mike is very mysterious and keeps to himself. Paul and Sheldon soon find out that Mike has given the wrong phone number and home address to school; purposely. Still, they move forward with their plan. -
New Student Body President
Paul and Sheldon nominate Mike as President without him even knowing. Mike then becomes president and doesn't care. Sheldon realizes he must continue his plan by making it seem like Mike is doing things for the school, and idolize him as the student body president. -
School Changes
As little things in the school were fixed or replaced, Sheldon and Paul started telling people that Mike Otis was the cause of it; when it was actually the Principal. This slowly started a stir in the school, and people began recognizing Mike and thanking him. Mike now knows he is President, but still shows no interest. -
The Principal's Realizaiton
When the Principal Mr. Gamble had eventually caught wind of the situation, he no longer allowed Mike to be student body president. Paul and Sheldon were irritated along with the other students. They thought of ways to protest and get Mike to become president again. -
Protest
When nominations for a new student body president arise, students are quick to vote Mike. The school quickly rejects the idea, not wanting to make him President again. This sends the students into a fit or rage. They come together and begin to chant in the hallways, make speeches for teachers, and adopt Mike's style of wearing a safety pin on their clothing. The whole begins to support Mike, and protest the school. -
Mike Becomes President Yet Again
After the students protest, and teachers begging for the Principal to let him become President once again, Mike Otis was elected. Students were over the moon. They school was more energetic than ever; and students actually cared! -
Goodbye Mike
All too soon, the good times came to an end. Sheldon and Mike find out Mike Is moving to Astragal, Indiana; a non-existing place. He is still mysterious than ever, but has served as an amazing Student Body President. The school gathers money to throw an amazing going-away party and bids him farewell.
