African Americans started an international movement about the violent ways they are treated in their community by the police officers. This movement has continued over the years as African Americans share stories of police brutality or even "murder" of "innocent" black citizens. The videos, pictures, and news articles of them being mistreated is shared through many social media platforms and then it catches onto the news media on television. -
Blue Lives Matter
This movement was started in the United States of America as a result of the Black Lives Matter movement. It was organized by active and retired law enforcement officers. They, along with many American citizens felt the need to stand up for the men and women who serve in the law enforcement because they serve to protect and fight for their freedom. -
Same Sex Marriage
Before 2015, gay marriage was not legalized in the United States or in other countries around the world. There has been many movements in the LGBT community to have more rights, such as legalizing same-sex marriage. Members of the LGBT community as well as, other people from all over the world fought for these people to have the right to get married. -
ME TOO Movement
In Hollywood, mostly high profile female celebrities openly shared details of times where they were sexually harassed and encouraged others who were sexually abused to write "me too" as their status on social media. This caught the attention of fans all over the world and it spread through social media and tv coverage as it was a popular topic to be discussed. People started sharing their "me too" stories on various social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. -
Coronavirus
The coronavirus has been a hot topic across all social media platforms because, globally, it has been killing people, many people have contracted the virus, businesses are shutting down, all major leagues have been suspended indefinitely, along with other major things that are impacting people. President Trump and other major leaders are informing the public of the impact of the coronavirus on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. People share news articles, memes, & other information on platforms.
