Opening Day at Disneyland (Also Known as Black Sunday)
Openeing day was a disaster for Disneyland. Someone was counter feiting tickets which caused more people to attend than expected. It was 100°F and women's high heels would sink into the asphalt because it was so fresh. There was also a gas leak in Fantasyland. Adult admission was $1 and children were 50 cents. -
The Pirates of the Caribbean ride opened
The Pirates of the Caribbean ride was one of the last two rides Walt Disney worked on before he died. Some people say that they used real bones from a medical center for this ride due to lack of high quality technology but I personally believe this is a myth. -
Club 33 opened
Club 33 is an exclusive club that you have to pay thousands of dollars to be a member of. It's a restaurant and a bar and also the only place in Disneyland where alcohol can be ordered. -
Deborah Gail Stone Dies on Attraction: America Sings
18 year old Deborah was a hostess for the attraction America Sings at Disneyland. She got caught between the rotating walls of the theater and was crushed to death. -
The Toontown section in the park Opened
Everything in Toontown was designed to be slightly skewed or not geometrically normal. There's spicy peppers that are grown in Toontown. There's also an online video game that is an exact replica of the town so you can virtually take toontown home with you. -
Innoventions was built (Tomorrowland)
Innoventions took the place of "America sings" and it focuses on the new technology and the future of tech. -

The Year of A Million Dreams
Disney members would randomly award visitors with a million dreams. One being an invitation to stay in the Dream Suite that is located In the park. This promotion ended on December 31st 2008
