    This timeline represents the life of Anthony Johnson and it starts off with his journey to Colonial Virginia. Antonio Johnson was born in Africa where he was captured by Portugese slave-trade and brought over to Colonial Virginia where he was brought into slavery, changed his name, coverted to Christianity and later paid his freedom.

He got John Casar to work on his plantation. He was able to feel just like any other human being in those times and not feel like he was being judged by the color of his skin, but there were still many other slaves suffering.

    This act is the first sign of the progress going down hill. The slaves really had no way out. This didn't really effect Anthony Johnson, but it really was the beginning of the end for slaves. Up to this point, slaves could get out of bondage by getting baptised. This law takes that away. Now, there is really no way out of slavery and the only Africans that are safe,are the the free ones, like Anthony Johnson.

    This law is the act saying that during beating, if your slave accidently dies, it won't be taken to court because you wouldn't intentionally hurt your own property. This is the first act that refers to slaves as property. This is the act that begins the dehumanizing process Africans. This law says that they are no longer human. This law shows definite decrease in progress for slavery. A year later Anthony Johnson died

    To find out more about the status of crime click here This is law that states the punishment for hog-stealing. On their first offense they hang you buy your ears and cut them off at the nail. On your second offense you get whipped 39 times because on the 40th whip you die. Anthony Johnson may be gone, but his loved ones are left to suffer. It is the final step in the dehumanizing process. This law sounds like the Englishmen are afraid. It seems like they need a plan B in case there is sign of rebellion.

They have suffered for a very long time from treatment they got for the color of their skin. They were brought to Colonial Virginia against their will after being captured and their life didn't get any better, but it really gets you thinking about how we need to be aware of what's going on. The reason that this didn't cause a major rebelion is because the English lawmakers tricked them by adding one law at a time.
