Proclamation of 1763
There is great significance in the Proclamation of 1763. It was an act according to which the new settlers in the United States were not allowed to go and live beyond the river Mississippi. -
The Surgar Act
The sugar act is passed to inrease money from the colonies for Britian. Samuel Adamns founds the Committees of Agreement to improve Comunication among the colonies. -
The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act taxes different things. It taxes newspapers, licenses, and colonial paper productas. A series of resolutions is published stating that the Stamp Act violates the rights of the colonists. This act repuired colonists to pay for an offical stamp, or seal, when they bought paper items. -
The Quartering Act of 1765
British officers who had fought in the French and Indian War found it hard to persuade colonial assemblies to pay for quartering and provisioning of their troops. The colonists disputed the legality of this Act because it seemed to violate the Bill of Rights of 1689. -
The Declaratory Act
The Declaratory Act was copied from the Irish Declaratory Act, and it won’t take a genius to learn that Parliament would want America, like the Irish, in continuous bondage to the crown. -
The Townshend Revenue Act
The acts placed duties on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea. They allowed tax collectors to search for smuggled goods. The women calling themselves the daughters of Liberty supported the boycott. -
The Boston Massacre
The Birtish soldiers fireninto a crowd of colonists homicide five men. The colonists protest and bring the soldiers to trial. Colonists called the shootings the Boston Massacre.
