    Until 1841 when the chalkboard was created, classrooms were using slates. Shortly after, Horace Mann began encouraging communities to buy chalkboards for their classrooms.

    The magic lantern projected images on glass plates. By the end of WWI, Chicago's public school system had over 8,000 lantern slides.

    The kinetoscope, now referred to as motion picture, was invented in 1889. With schools growing, there was a demand for standard, high quality instruction to large numbers of students.

    These are online collaboration and communication tolls that enable administrators, teachers, and students to collaborate online in real-time geographic distance. An example of an LMS is the Blackboard Learning System.

    The internet is the most wildly used forms of educational technology used in classrooms. The Virtual Schools launched in the 1990s. Not only is it used in classrooms, but almost all universities and schools provide hybrid courses so you are able to complete work online.
