In 1855 , the first school law stating curriculum requirement was passed by the General Assembly.
Subject requirement by the law was , spelling , reading , writing , orthograph English grammar and geography. -

The progressive law passed wich shorten the amount of hours children could work in factories.

Many banks closed , and depositors lost their money. 160 banks closed in 1920. Low crops and prices hurt farmers , altho there were other factors at work. Farm families had to pay high prices for farm machinery throught the 1920s -
