First Woman appointed to Senate position in Canada (+1)
On February 15, 1930 Cairine Wilson was the first woman appointed Senate in Canada. Before she was appointed Senate, the British North America Act stated only men can be appointed Senate. The "Persons" Case removed this statement and woman were given equal opportunities. This event has given woman the same opportunities that were given to men creating a "Just Society".

Canada had declared war on Germany, after having had campaigns in Italy and the Normandy invasion. Canada had lacked troops, in order to overcome this obstacle conscription was introduced once again and Canadian citizens were once again required to join the army. People were not given chances to decide whether or not they wanted to join the forces.

    Suez Crisis Resolution (+1)
On November 6, 1956 Lester B. Pearson resolved the Suez Canal Crisis. Lester B. Pearson was Canadian and he won the Nobel Peace Prize for solving the Suez Crisis peacefully. First Females accepted in RCMP (+2)
The first female were accepted in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on September 16, 1974. When citizens think about the RCMP they picture a man but in 1974 the RCMP accepted the first 32 female troops. This was a sign Canada was turning into a "Just Society" because woman were given the opportunity to join a police force that was originally just for men.
  • Clarity Act (+2)

The Clarity Act was introduced, the act had many statements that were required but among them all one made Canada a more just society. The act stated that all provinces and the First Nations were to be part of negotiations, this meant that all opinions and points are present and equal opportunities to decide on solutions.
  • Women are eligible to enter the armed forces (+2)

In the past women were in the military with a passive role, they were not allowed to be in a combat able position. In 1989 a Canadian tribunal had overruled the discrimination against women and had allowed all different roles in the military to women. This showed how Canada began to realize that segregating between women and men made their society an unjust country.
  • Montreal Massacre (-2)

    Montreal Massacre (-2)
An armed 25 year old man entered École Polytechnique de Montréal and killed 14 women. When he entered an engineering classroom he separated the men from the women and said he hated feminists. Then immediately killed 6 women. In his suicide note it said that women had no place in engineering because they would take jobs from men. This event shows that there are people who still think women are inferior to men and this is not how a "Just Society" should look like.
  • Immigrants are welcomed again (+2)

Canada has increased their goal for amount of immigrants let in, this year they plan to reach 300 000 immigrants. With Canada offering much more help to those in need it shows how and what a just society looks like, to help those in need and provide them with equal opportunities that us Canadian citizens already have.
