Iraq Invades Kuwait
On August 2nd, 1990, the president of Iraq Saddam Hussein sent his nation's forces to Kuwait. Kuwait was a point of interest to invade because they had been accused by the Iraqi that they had been stealing oil. -
U.S. Issues Operation Desert Storm
On August 8th, 1990, President George H.W. Bush declared war on Iraq due to Saddam Hussein's choice of attacking Kuwait. The American troops were then sent to Saudi Arabia, as they had been desperate for our assistance. -
The U.N. Gets Involved
On November 29th, the United Nations Security Council issued Resolution #678; which ordered Iraq to withdraw from Kuwait by January 15 1991. -
The U.S. Declares War
As it was only 3 days prior to the deadline for Iraq to comply with the U.N., there was nothing indicating that they would retreat from Kuwait. This allowed the U.S. Congress to pass President Bush's ability to declare war. -

Iraq Sets Up Danger in Kuwait
At this time, Iraqi forces decide to destroy the oil wells their precious oil had been collected in, so that Kuwait's economy would be effected. Iraq destroyed about 700 oil wells. -
U.S. Supplies Those In Danger
On April 5th, President Bush sent over supply drop reinforcements to Turkey and North Iraq, as the U.S. wants to do the right thing and the refugees living in these areas are significantly helped. Bush wanted to help the refugees since they were desperate for care and it was not being given by the Iraqi leaders or soldiers. -
Iraq Comes to Terms With Ceasefire
On April 11th, the war in Iraq was essentially ended as both sides of the fight have allowed for a ceasefire, which ended the fighting of the war. Now that the ceasefire had been issued, the physical fight was complete and the U.N. had to deal with the documented aspect of the end of the war.
