Germany Invades the Rhineland
Violating the treaty of Versailles, Germany remilitarizes the Rhineland, the buffer between Germany and France. While not a shot is fired, this precursors the invasion of France. The French, intimidated by war, choose instead to fortify instead of attacking the Germans. -
Stalin and Hitler Sign a Non-Agreshon Pact
Germany and the Soviet Union sign a non-aggression pact agreeing to split poland. Both sides also recognised many countries as either Russian ( including Latvia, Estonia and Finland) or German (pretty much everything else).Neither side intended to keep their end of the deal but it ends up lasting about five years. -
World War II Conflict Begins
Germany officially begins fighting with the invasion of poland, followed closely by the Soviet Union invading on the 17th of September, the entire country was divided up and annexed on the sixth of october. The conflict lasted over a month. -
Brittin and France delcare war on Germany
Two days after the German invasion of Poland, the allies declare war, Britain and france mobilize. A Naval blockade is attempted to be established but very few actions are taken to help Poland. -
Germany Invades Belgium
Even though Belgium was neutral at the time, the Germans invade Belgium. The allies will not liberate Belgium until 1944. It took the Germans twelve days to take Belgium, a surprisingly long time considering Belgium's small army and airforce. -
France Falls
After a little more than a month of fighting, the French fall to the Germany's Blitzkrieg. Fortification of the seaboard will start soon with the building of the Atlantic wall. The Allies will not set foot on French soil for another four years. -
Germany Attacks Russia
Ending their non-aggression pact, Germany attacks the Soviet Union, forcing their hand to join the allies. This will prove an especially hard task for the Germans. They will push hard into the Soviet Union but eventually be turned back with both sides taking heavy casualties. -
Germany Declares War on the U.S
With seemingly no strategic reason, Hitler and Nazi Germany declare war on the U.S, four days after Pearl Harbor. The U.S had declared war on Japan three days earlier. The U.S had already been helping the Allies in small ways including supplementing some American troops into Iceland. -
The battle of Stalingrad is Won
After over five months of fighting, Stalingrad is returned to its namesake. Both the Soviet Union and the Axis take heavy casualties but the Axis are fought off. This will prove to be a turning part for the Allied Eastern front. -
Opperation Overlord Begins
Operation Overlord, commonly known as D-Day was the largest amphibious invasion in the history of mankind. A combined Allied force attacks fifty miles of beach head in Normandy. This will prove too much for Germany, Berlin will fall in under two years.
