Briggsers were major part of civil rights movement. Wasn't anything new for many years people trying to fight for African American rights. Started to get better after abolition movement but took a halt after reconstruction. -
Sit ins and Freedom Rides
Sit ins and freedom rides started when people started to protest againsit racial descrimation more. Many would come in and take over lunch counters to show how important this was. Freedom rides would go as groups and go in "white only" places to show whites off. -
Womens Movement
After the nineteenth amendment, it allowed all women in the United States to vote. After the women organized this movement they got many new rights of womens to decline. The election of 1960 was between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon. There was greater differences between them then just policatically different. Kennedy had the young look, with a have first young childern then any other president. While Nixon was an older man and not some superstar like Kennedy. Berlin Wall
Communist forces closed crossinh points between eat and west Berlin. First was build with barbwire and then replaced with brick wall. Mostly to seperate communism in Berlin. -
Increasing U.S. Involvement
President Kennedy sent compact forces into South Vietnam. He kept sending more troops in and by December there was about 3,000. and by 1963 increased to 16,000.by the end over 500 were killed. -

This was civil rights movement, was a sit in at Albany's bus station. By mid of Decemeber more then 500 protesters were in jail. Martin Luther King jr was a big part about this movement and it was to inforce about segration. -
Cuban Americans

Before the Civil Rights act was passed African Americans was still a stuggle for voting. When Twenty-Forth Amendment was passed it banned taxing citizens to vote. Many wanted those so African Americans couldnt vote. The Voter Education Project helped register southerns to vote. -

His forgein summarized the values he thought should gudie American and other nations, He also created the Peace Corps. He sent troops to Africa, Asia and Latin America for health care, education and many other things to help those countries, stated that it was in the month of November. -

After the March on Washington and Kennedy's assisnation, the new President Johnson agreed on the act. Even though alot of people in the south were fighting hard to kill it, Johnson signed. This banned discrimination everywhere in US.

Rolling Thunder
Air planes played a big part in the war of Vietnam. It started the Rolling Thunder, it was a bombing campgain in the the north. By doing this it would weaken the enemy's ability to fight witht them. They would bomb including bridges, roads, railways and power plants.

Lives of Latinos
in 1960s there was over 900,000 Latinos lived in the US. With the immigration act passed in 1965 the population went up with Latinos. But sadly, they were the ones who struggled the most and lived under the poverty line in America. Twice as many Latinos vs Americans were unemployed. They also faced alot of discrimation in schools and work. It was hard for them because they had to learn english. date not stated.

Voting Rights Act of 1965
This law states that one of the most important pieces of civil rights. It gave the rights for federal government the right to break down African American voting rights. it gave a great deal to African Americans to vote and in three weeks 27,000 were register.

Stokely Carmichael was the new SNCC leader and was one of the first arrested for marches he was apart of. After that he addressed a rally for more then 3,000 people to help. He called it the black power movement because that is what he yelled to everyone to fire them up.

Assassiation of King
When the King was in memphis to speak at a rally the next day a guy named James Ray shot and killed him. He killed him at the balcony of his hotel. In just hours 120 cities of mad African Americans across the united states were heart broken. This change many lives forever.

New Changes and Gains
President Johnson signed and new civil rights act of 1968. Also the fair housing act to banned discrimination in the sale or retal of housing. This started to help many African Americans to start having more of there own life again.

The draft was for everyone man in American at start of the war, If you were 18 years old and a male then you were enlisted no matter what. Many men didnt like that it wasnt fair but many believed it was an honor to join the war. But many didnt like it the government ended the draft in 1973.
