Characteristics of the Strong Programme
The key concepts of the strong programme-
CASUALITY-it examines the conditions (psychological, social, and cultural) that bring about claims to a certain kind of knowledge
IMPARTIALITY-it examines successful as well as unsuccessful knowledge claims.
SYMMETRY- the same types of explanations are used for successful and unsuccessful knowledge claims alike.
REFLEXIVITY-t must be applicable to sociology itself. -

David Bloor Strong Sociology
David Bloors main work is the Strong Programme
The strong programme proposed that both true and false scientific theories should be treated the same way. Both are caused by social factors or conditions, such as cultural context and self-interest. The strong programme to me has taken out the bias from the things we view as sociology and merges it away from pseudo to a more real science. -
My thoughts
To me the strong programme is a way to keep philosophers and scientists in check with an empirical mindset. It bring about a way to keep rationalist thought out of theories and to stick to more empirical(factual) data. This was known to create the science wars in which scientists would refute each other and prose established guidelines for what is science. This truly shows how important sociology is when involved with the philosophy of science. -
