Current assistive technology usageWe currently have limited access to technology for students with disabilities -
Access to 1:1 device in each classroom
Each classroom will have at least one device specific to the individual needs of students in the class. A cohort of special education teachers will be teaming with each school site technology teacher lead. -
Blended learning available for disabled students who are home bound
Students on home school via an IEP will be able to access classroom instruction via web cam or skype. -
Access to a 1:1 device for every student with a disability
All students will have a device that is appropriate for them to access learning. Devices will be used at home and school. -
Ongoing professional development
Each special education teacher will be proficient at assessing student need for reading and writing accommodations using technology. -
Differentiated technology
Differentiated technology will be a matter of course in all classrooms. All students with disabilities will have access to what they need to participate in instruction. -
Students with disabilities will be indistinguishable from the general population
Technology will allow students with disabilities to achieve success in less restrictive settings. -
Future schools in Pomona
All students will access learning through various resources. There will be no need for paper, pencils, desks, workbooks, copy machines, or printers. All learning will take place digitally. All students will have access to digital print, text to speech and speech to text.
