    When JFK was elected presdient he was presented with a decision to support the invasion of Cuba becasue they wanted to overthow Castro and put someone in his place they would restore private ownership of property and industry.

    A failed invasion of cuba by CIA trainded Cuban rebels it was an embarrassment to JFK.

    13 days in 1962 in which the US, Cuba, & the Soviet Union came to tge brink of nuclear war over the installment of missile sites in cuba by the soviets- the soviets with drew from the sites
  • Concerning

    Concerns about Cuba and its close relations with the Soviet Union had led President JFK to try and overgrow the Cuban government.The failure of the Bay of Pigs was an embarrassment to the US and that Strengthened Castro's Power. US would watch Cuba closely now they did they by getting spy's.
  • Soviet technology

    U-2 photographs from flyovers reveled improvements at certain missile-launching sites. US knowledge of Soviet technology led to the alarming conclusion that these sites had been modified to have an ability to launch intermediate-range missiles. Missiles that could carry nuclear weapons.
  • Might Attack

    Administraion knew with the certainty that Cuba had the missiles and the launching capacity to attack the United States. However, it was unknown if or when an attack might occur.
