    Henry Clay came up with the missouri compromise in 1820 to solve the problem of deciding whitch states where free and which states where slave. Henry compromise stated the any state below the thirdy-six, thirty line where slave states and any above this line where free. to keeps things even when the south added Missouri as a slve state the north added Maine as a free state.

    The Nullification Crisis
    The nullification crisis was a crisis while Andrew Jackson was president.It was Ccreated by South Carolina's 1832 Ordinance of Nullification.it declared that the tarriffs set by the federal government were unconstitutional and therefor people did not have to pay it.

    Dred Scott Decision
    in 1846 the Supreme Court issued a decision in the case of Dred Scott vs. Sanford. Dred Scott was a slave that lived in a free state with his owner before returning to Missouri. He stated that the time he spend in a free state he was entitled emancipation. The court disagreed arguing that no black, free or slave could get U.S. citizenship, so black were unable to press for their freedom.

    Henry Clay came up with the Compromise of 1850. It stated that California was a free state and Utah and New Mexico were territories that were neither slave nor free. This settled a dispuite ending slave trade in Washihngton, D.C.

Later all of the south suceeded from the nation bevause they were unhappy about Lincoln election. The south started calling themselves The Conferderacy and the north stated calling themselves The Union.
