Pope Urban II Responds to a Letter
Pope Urban II received a letter in Nov. 1095 saying that the sender was in need of help of fighting in the ,"Holy War", otherwise known as the First Crusade. Pope Urban II and 30,00 other men left western Europe to fight in Jerusalem. -

The First Crusade
The First Crusade took place from 1096-1099. In the Crusade there was no strategy to win. Their plan was just to capture Jerusalem back and ended up winning Jerusalem back in the victory. -

The Second Crusade
The Second Crusade took place from 1147-1149. The new Muslim leader,"Saladin", took control of Jerusalem. The Muslim Turks also seemed to reconquer the city. People described Saladin to be brave and honest. -

The Third Crusade
The Third Crusade took place from 1189-1192. Richard the Lion Hearted was the new English King at this time. He tried to recapture Jerusalem back but, it as hard for him because him and Saladin both respected each other. -

The Fourth Crusade
The Fourth Crusade took place from 1202-1204. Instead of attacking the ruler or emperor of Jerusalem they attacked Constantinople. The Crusade killed, destroyed, and even burned anything that got in thei way. -

Children's Crusade
The Children's Crusade took place in 1212. The children were trying to reach Jerusalem. Many died of hunger or freezing to death. When the children got to the Mediterranean Sea they thought they would get fresh water but all they got was that they had to go the long way back home
