Delegates from 12 colonies met, all of them except Georgia, to discuss the problems with the king and how to fix them. They argued most of the time but finally came to a consenus and made the Declaration and Resolves. -

Second Continental Congress meeting
Delegates meet again in PA. Since the red coats are invading Bopston they decide they needed to put toegther an army to fight the Britsh military just in case. They put George Washington in charge of this army. -
Olive Branch Petition
This was a direct appeal to King George III. The colonist were trying to resolve their problems peacefully by sending him this appeal. In other words offer him and olive brance of peace so they could avoid war. -
Declaration of Independence
Congress adopted this document that stated the 13 colonies were free from Britain's rule. Thomas Jefferson was an important figure in the writing of the document. He is known as the author of the document. After the colonies were free they formed the United States. -
Prohibitory Act
The King took the Olive Branch petition as an act of rebelllion so he made this act. This pronaounced that the colonies were no longer under protection of Great Britian and that theyw were banned from trade with Britain.
