Event 1
COVID was first detected in Wuhan, China in late 2019. Dr. Zhang Jixian was the first to report a COVID case in China, but at that time we didn't know it was COVID. Most thought it was pneumonia. This is important because it was the start of the pandemic that we are in today. -
Event 2
January of 2020 is when this virus first made the news. They made it public that there were lots of "pneumonia" cases. This news article gave people advice on what to do / a warning and told us what China had told them. -
Event 3
On January 13th 2020 we learned the the virus had moved outside of China. We got report of a case in Thailand which was the first reported case outside of China at that time. -
Event 4
By January 14th 2020 we had 41 confirmed cases in the world. We weren't yet sure if the virus could be transmitted from person to person but they said it also wouldn't be surprising because most other sicknesses are transmittable as well. -
Event 5
On January 30th 2020 the EC decided that this was a Public Health Emergency and that action was needed. This is also the day they figured out that the pneumonia was actually COVID-19. -
Event 6
On March 10th 2020 the first case of COVID was found in michigan. The first person to get COVID here was Paul Dewyse. -
Event 7
On March 11th 2020 WHO made an announcement that COVID-19 can now be considered a pandemic -
Event 8
April 3rd 2020 was the day that face masks and social distancing were first recommended by the CDC so people didn't get sick. -
Event 9
At this point all states have been shut down and are in quarantine. Georgia, Alaska and Oklahoma start to partially re open their states even though many officials are telling them it is too early. -
Event 10
The death toll from COVID-19 surpasses 100,000. Many people have lost loved ones too soon and are worried about losing themselves. -
Event 11
In mid July of 2020 the CDC released what schools needed to do to re open for the 20-21 school year. The regulations were for teachers, administrators, parents and children. -
Event 12
The death toll of COVID in the United States surpassed 200,000. -
Event 13
Early October of 2020 New Zealand declaired themselves virus free. -
Event 14
Early December of 2020 the first COVID vaccine was released. The first vaccine released was from Pfizer. -
Event 15
December 31st 2020 marks WHO's first reported case of the Coronavirus.
