    The history of rail transport in Spain begins in the 19th century. In 1848 a railway line between Barcelona and Mataró was inaugurated, although in 1837 a line had already been opened in Cuba (then a Spanish province) linking Havana and Bejucal. In 1852 the first narrow gauge line was built, in 1863 a line reached the Portuguese border. By 1864 the Madrid-Irun line had been opened and the French border was reached.

    It is a currently ongoing pandemic derived from the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It was initially called "Wuhan pneumonia", since the first cases were identified in December 2019 in the Chinese city of Wuhan. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared it a public health emergency of international concern on January 30, 2020 and recognized it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020, when it reported that there were 4,291 deaths and 118,000 cases in 114 countries.
