I came to life on this very day. This was the day I took my first breath to lead me on a kick start to my reading journey. -
Conner's mom buys first book for Conner.
My mother purchased a small childrens book for me when I was only 2 years old. She said that I would pretend to read it, even though I did not fully understand what was going on. It was called, The Three Little Kittens. -
Conner reads his first children's book without any help.
I feel as though being able to read a novel from beginning to end without assistance is important. My mom was persistent with my reading schedule and this caused me to get an early grip of the process. -
Conner starts Kindergarten
Starting kindergarten was a huge leap in my reading journey. I did not go to preschool, so this was my first year of schooling. -
Finishes reading the first Harry Potter Novel.
I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone and was instantly hooked. This sparked the passion I have for reading in the present. -
Conner fills a bookcase full of his own novels.
Throughout book fairs, and collecting books from gifts or hand me downs Conner filled up an entire book case. -
Conner reads the first book that was a train wreck to get through.
The Scarlet Letter. I feel as though negative experiences also have lead me to where I am. I enjoy reading, but am picky as to what the topic is. Things such as the era of when it was written, and other factors play a role on if I willingly read a novel. -
Conner graduates high school!
Graduating high school was an indicator of my reading level being sufficient enough. It opened up the world of higher level novels to me. -
Conner teaches his step daughter to read through a children's book completely.
I was able to practice reading and letter sounds with my step daughter at the time, and she was able to read me a very small book all on her own. -
Reading through a Praxis exam review workbook.
I read through a practice and preparation book for the Praxis Core. This was a huge step in me getting closer to my goal of becoming a teacher.
