    DRG's were introduced; Diagnosis Related Groups. This was a new way of medical claims getting paid. Computers were getting smaller and independent software applications were developing.

    With implementation of EMR's, physicians are able to have access to a patient's digital medical record. With the accessibility and use of computers in the medical world, physicians can track data over periods of time. They are also able to identify patients who are due for preventative visits such as wellness exams and monitor patients who are trying to maintain certain diseases, like high blood pressure. EMR's allow physicians and patients to have improved overall quality of health.
