    The space shuttle was a form of spacecraft that was intended to be landable on earth after launching into space, a big progression from the previous spacecraft used in the race to the moon. NASA and the U.S. Airforce worked together to create this spacecraft and had to have a new type of engine developed for the space shuttle as previous models were insufficient for the life weight required.

    A compact disc is a form of digital storage used to store, and later play, music. The compact disc was a big change from the tape used previously in devices like the Walkman.
    The compact disc was later developed to be used as data storage for things outside of music.

    DNA Fingerprinting is a method of using the unique fingerprints of an individual for identification, often used in forensics and police investigations. The first patent for DNA fingerprinting was submitted by Jeffrey Glassberg in 1983.

    The NES was Nintendo's first in-home console. It was first released in Japan in 1983 as the Famicom, and later released to American markets as the NES. This system uses cartridges. The release of the NES helped to revitalize the U.S. video game industry following the video game crash of 1983 when games tanked in popularity. The NES housed the beginnings of multiple iconic franchises, including Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda.
